Institutional Research Analyst (posted 6/5/13)

Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment, the Research Analyst collects, manages, analyzes and reports institutional data to serve institutional effectiveness, planning, decision-making, and policy formation processes. More specifically the Research Analyst job duties include but are not limited to the following activities.
• Collects, compiles, analyzes, and reports data from internal information systems (Jenzabar CX);
• Requests, coordinates, and collects data from offices throughout the University for external reports such as IPEDS, ICUT, the Census Bureau;
• Responsible for responding to internal and external requests for information about the university, including ad hoc reports as assigned;
• Maintains the OIPRA Annual Fact Book, Common Data Set and Fact Sheets;
• Prepares data for benchmarking studies and peer exchanges;
• Posts data-driven institutional reports on the OIPRA web page and prepares data for the OIPRA newsletter;
• Maintains and updates selected databases;
• Provides training to University faculty, staff and students to encourage use of available institutional data reports;
• Serves on University committees;
• Learns new software and trains as needed;
• Assists in the future development, deployment, and maintenance of web-based reporting systems and dashboards;
• Assists in ensuring data integrity and consistency through systems design and data reconciliation;
• Identifies and assists with implementing improvements in the institution’s data resources and report production processes;
• Prepares procedures as needed to be included in OIPRA production manual as applicable;
• Assists with course evaluations;
• Assists with institutional effectiveness tracking and planning;
• Conducts additional tasks as indicated by the Director.

Position Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in social sciences, mathematics, statistics or other related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirement. Each year of related work experience over the minimum required may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of college credit; Experience with quantitative methods, statistics and applied research; Demonstrated proficiency with database software such as Excel or Access; Demonstrated proficiency with SPSS, SAS, and/or STATA; Two years of experience with database and statistical software applications and proficiency with spreadsheets; Knowledge of R and/or SQL beneficial but not required; High computer and software proficiency; Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; Ability to interact collegially with various units of the University; Superior writing skills; Strong organizational skills; High level of detail and task orientation; Superior verbal and presentation skills.

Statistician, Signature Science (posted 4/8/13)

Job Location: Austin, TX

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be based in our Austin, TX office and will provide statistical expertise to multi-disciplinary project teams supporting DoD and DHS biological and chemical threat detection programs. Work will involve the development and implementation of data evaluation approaches to address customer questions; this will include developing and running programs in R and/or SAS to perform statistical tests, generate data summaries, and produce graphical data displays. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working with project team members to interpret and present data evaluation results via reports and briefings.

Position QualificationsM.S. in Statistics or related field is required, and at least five years of demonstrated experience as an applied statistician is desired. Fundamental understanding and experience with statistical methods (including ANOVA, sampling design, categorical data analysis, multivariate data analysis, regression techniques and statistical process control) is required. Proficiency in R, SAS, S-PLUS, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word is required. The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and to interact effectively with individuals on multi-disciplinary teams.
