How do I self-schedule a consulting appointment?
First, go to the self-scheduling page and select either Stats or Math. If you are not sure which is more appropriate to you, look at the Meet our Consultants page to see the areas of expertise for the statistics consultants versus the mathematics consultants.
When you choose "Stats" or "Math," you will see an appointment form. In the form, enter your name, EID, phone number, email address, hardware (the type of computer you are using), and the software you are using (if you do not know what software to use, choose "Described Below").
Next, choose a Contact Method. "Walk-In" means that you will come to your appointment in-person; "Phone" means that you would like us to call you at the time of your appointment at the number you provided.
Next, choose a Time Slot. All available appointments in the next 7 days appear in the Time Slot box. In the example below, several slots are available; we have chosen the one for Tuesday at 12:30. (If you want an appointment with a specific consultant, check the Meet our Consultants page to see the time slots for your preferred consultant.) All appointments are a half-hour long. If you want an hour-long appointment, look for two slots that are back-to-back. You may book the first one, and then go back and book the second one.
Sometimes the Time Slot box is empty, like this: ![]()
That means that all the appointments for the next seven days are booked. In this case, you may want to re-visit the scheduler the next day to see whether new appointments have appeared for the following week. If you need your question answered more quickly, you may e-mail us your question at stats@ssc.utexas.edu.
Below the Time Slot box, you may enter an error message, if this is applicable to your problem; if not, you may leave it blank. Below, you must describe your problem. If you are a first-time client, please give us some detail about what you would like to do in the consulting session. This field requires a minimum number of characters; if you enter only a few words, you'll receive an error message and will have to enter more information.
When you are done entering your information, click the Save Appointment button. After your submission, you may see an error message. This means that you have not filled in the form completely. Read the error message and fix any problems, then choose the Save Appointment button again.
When you submit the form successfully, you will see a confirmation message displaying the time of your appointment. Please write the time of the appointment down; we unfortunately do not have an automated way to remind people of their upcoming appointments. If you find that you cannot come to the appointment, please e-mail us at stats@ssc.utexas.edu with as much advance notice as possible, so that we can cancel your appointment.
